MUDGE’s Musings
So, for the first time in over a week, I find myself back in blogging mode. Before this day is done, I hope to post something more publicly relevant. But, this first one will be personal.
We had a great time in Los Angeles this past week. These are not tourist visits; rather, they are family catch-up stays. Our daughter and son-in-law, our two grandchildren and (heaven help us) our granddog moved to the San Fernando valley suburbs of L.A. four years ago, when our grandson was 3-1/2, and our granddaughter had just turned one. They had lived just a mile away.
Sigh.
So, we started accumulating frequent flyer miles (came in handy when my wife needed to make an emergency trip out there during my daughter’s hospitalization last September).
This will not be a diary, although I will mention that this family’s favorite airline-we-love-to-hate, American, behaved itself on our behalf, a nice change considering the 3,000 flights they canceled the week before we traveled!
We found everyone doing well. This would not be extraordinary, except that our daughter is battling a virulent case of Crohn’s disease, and the times have been anything but ordinary for her and her family for almost two years.
But, she recently received permission to double the frequency of dosage for her medication, Humira, and it seems to be kicking in finally. Very little on the family’s agenda this past week needed amending due to her infirmities and indispositions, which is a very promising trend.
Anyway, even though it’s as difficult to get members of the MUDGE family to make it a habit to regularly consult this nanocorner of the ‘Sphere© as it is for the other 6,500,000,000 of yr (justifiably) humble svt‘s fellow global citizens to do so, I hope that the L.A. branch of the family (including an official brother [unlikely to be a regular reader, due to a political position more appropriate for Orange County] and sister-in-law, and aunt and uncle of yours truly) knows that we had a wonderful visit, are so heartened by our daughter’s progress, and loved spending q-time with her, our son, and the two grandMUDGElets.
Even the dog, a beautiful apricot poodle who, despite many excellent canine attributes and undoubted achievements, is scared just about pee-less of me.
We had a great time, kids, even though my blogging jones went unsatiated for a very long week. Maybe especially since my blogging jones etc.
But, it’s great to vacate; and it’s great to rehome.
It’s it for now. Thanks,
–MUDGE

I’m very afraid about crohn’s disease. I have some symtoms in abdominal pain, often in the lower right area, and diarrhea. Should I go to see the doctor? Please help.
